“Be intentional, have vision, be grateful and always joyful!”
My story begins long before Arbonne was introduced to me. Six years ago, I gave birth to my first child, Georgia Grace Bowles, the first of my three angels. Life should have been blissful. However, the next three years I felt as if I was a single-financed mother and wife. My amazing husband, trying to do what was best for our family, was running a restaurant, leaving for work around 9 a.m. and returning home most nights after 11 p.m.
In 2003, I became pregnant again. Life was extremely stressful, with mounting debt and a feeling of being all alone wearing on my spirit. My relationship with my husband became strained as we both felt the pressure of our circumstances. Five months into the pregnancy, my water broke. I delivered our son, Joseph Allen Bowles Jr., on August 17, 2003. I will never forget the moment I held him, how beautiful he was. It is a miracle to see such perfection in an eight-ounce angel.
After experiencing the trauma and heartache of losing Joseph, I was quickly reminded again, just a week later on my daughter’s third birthday, how fleeting life is. My closest friend called and told me she had cancer. In the following weeks, they determined it had spread to her lungs and was stage four, terminal. As I write this, nearly three years later, my heart breaks for all she and her family have gone through. Determined to survive, she is still fighting. I am in awe of her courage and strength. If you too have been touched by loss or illness, my heart goes out to you.
Sometimes we are reminded in subtle ways and sometimes in ways very profound just how precious life is. Be grateful for every moment; each one is a gift.
In February of 2004, I learned I was once again expecting. Josie Faith Bowles blessed our lives on November 4, 2004. She was our third angel. Prior to her arrival, my husband and I decided it was time to make a change. He quit his consuming career and took an evening job. November and December were blissful, and then reality hit. Our health insurance would expire in January, and we were not going to be able to pay all of our bills. Upon weighing our options, I decided to take a job working at Starbucks, because not only could I work early mornings, they offered insurance options for part-time employees.
I found myself somewhat broken. As I drove home from work one afternoon, I began to cry. Exhausted, I decided to pull over for a moment and compose myself.
I am not a religious person, however I consider myself very spiritual. I believe in God. I began to have a conversation with Him – or, as my daughter believes, Her – that went something like this: “Have mercy, this is not my life. I need something to change. Please bring me a job I will feel passionate about, something that will change our future. I am pretty good with people, and if it has to be something with sales, I will do it, even though I really do not like sales; I will do whatever I have to in order to make a difference, in order to be with my family.” Then I took a deep breath, wiped away my tears and headed home.
Those were close to my exact words. I will always remember the moment, because I felt so foolish trying to reason with God about starting a career in sales, hoping to be inspired and make a difference. How ridiculous, right?
I arrived home, and my husband, per our routine, was ready to head off to his job. I began my evening of feeding, bathing and putting our girls to bed. Life carried on as usual for the next two days – up at 2 a.m. to feed the baby, 4 a.m. out the door and off to work, return home just in time for my husband to leave for his job. On the third day, everything changed.
I received an e-mail from Christa Evernham, an acquaintance of mine from a weekly “moms group” I had been attending. She knew my situation and how unhappy I was. The e-mail was one line: “Hey, Anna, I have this great stay-at-home opportunity and would love to share it with you.” My introduction to Arbonne had arrived.
The last week of February 2005, I attended a “Group” Presentation where Christa shared about the Arbonne product and business. I vividly remember sitting with my 4-month-old daughter on my lap, feeling giddy as the possibilities Arbonne offered were presented.
I had never heard of Arbonne before that evening, and had no specific knowledge of the direct sales industry. I did, however, know this was the answer – what I had been seeking. I began my Arbonne business on March 1, 2005, and my life has never been the same.
I signed up to build my business and attended my first Arbonne event on the same day. I was beyond excited to get a chance to hear from our awe-inspiring President, Rita Davenport. But at the last minute, a new speaker was called in, as Rita had broken her wrist. He shared a life-changing quote I decided to put into practice: “At the moment of commitment, the universe conspires to assist you.”
I had never been more committed, more purposeful in my life. I had intention and clear vision. I was going to earn enough to bring my husband home from his miserable job, as well as allow us to wake up every day and be able to choose. I was ready for a life of choice!
Consistent effort, a clear vision, total belief, faith, commitment and the universe’s assistance enabled me to achieve all of the goals I set within less than two years.
The blessing of this business was more than I could have imagined. November 2005, one month after promoting to Regional Vice President, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I share this with you not for sympathy, but clarity. Life will always present unexpected challenges; it is how we decided to embrace them that determines who we are and what we are capable of. I was gifted with MS to remind me every day how lucky I am to be on this journey, sharing health and happiness – to never take feeling good for granted, to remind others to live in the present moment and to embrace their life!
Arbonne afforded me the time I needed to heal, and to bring my husband home during a very uncertain, frightening time.
The peace I feel now, knowing I am creating a legacy for my children, is immeasurable. This is an amazing, beautiful company!
If you are reading my story today, contemplating whether or not to pursue this business, I urge you to consider this:
Life is fleeting. Every moment is a new opportunity to decide how it will unfold. Make the choice to do work that will not only afford you financial freedom, but will stretch you beyond what you thought possible. Choose work that will allow you an avenue to transform lives in the most rewarding way.
Deciding to build an Arbonne business will at first most certainly be about you and your needs, but eventually you will realize it is so much bigger than you. This business allows you to leave a legacy for your family, as well as make a profound impact on countless lives.
Go for your dream life; the life you deserve! Share this gift with those you love. Start this moment stretching yourself beyond what is comfortable. Give abundantly and you will receive abundance! This company and business model epitomizes giving: To have success, you must share success. What a beautiful concept; what an exceptional way to live.
However your journey unfolds, you will know without a doubt that this company is all about heart and helping others.
I would not be here writing this story if not for the beautiful souls who have so blessed my life and business. My team is my success. They are my true gifts. The friendships, the love, the amazing transformations I have been so privileged to experience.
I do not know how to express my gratitude to each and every person who has been a part of my success. Please read the following words from the chorus of one of my favorite songs, and know they are for you:
“More than anything, my wish for you is that this life becomes all that you want it to. Your dreams stays big, your worries stay small, you never need to carry more than you can hold. And while you’re out there, getting where you’re getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you and wants the same things too. This is my wish.”
I hope you all know how much I truly adore you. I hold you in the highest esteem. You are changing the world one person at a time. I am so proud of each of you. I love you!
To the Arbonne corporate office, you inspire me to do more and be more! You are a blessing to our businesses. Thank you!
To my best friend and soul mate, I fell in love with you 13 years ago and am still so madly in love. You make this lifetime so much more in every possible way. To love you has been one of my greatest blessings and to be loved by you inspires me. The joy you bring to our lives is beyond measure. Thank you for all you do every day to care for us. I am honoured to call you my husband.
To my angels, you are everything. Thank you for blessing my life. You are love, and to see you in the world, giving of your hearts, is why I am here. Thank you for choosing me. You are my soul.
At the end of the day, at the end of life, what matters are the lives you’ve touched and those whom have graced your life.
My life is abundant in every way, because I said a prayer, made a choice and took action.
If you need proof, you can find it in every EOA. If you need facts, we have those as well – ask and you will be directed to whatever information you need to make the choice to begin your Arbonne journey.
Please do not let this gift remain unopened. You deserve to live the life you have always imagined!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and listen to my heart. I look forward to meeting you some day.
Much love, Anna.
