Arbonne entered my life in a most surprising way — some would call it being in the right place at the right time, but I owe it all to divine intervention. On January 31, 2003, I had gone to an Arbonne spa party as a favor to a friend, my eventual sponsor, ERVP Beth Sparks. I really did not intend to stay for the duration of the event but merely intended to make a gracious appearance in support of a good friend’s new endeavor. So I told my mom, Kay Salyer, who was babysitting for me that I would be back in about a half an hour to relieve her. That half an hour turned into a full three hours. By the time I got home, I could not stop raving about Arbonne and the amazing results I received in just sampling their product once. The very next day, I found myself telling all of my friends about my recent Arbonne experience. My excitement was infectious and caught on quickly. Before I even knew what I was in for, I had already scheduled a party for the following week.
That same morning I had read a prayer in the newspaper that seemed to express how I was feeling about this new passion I had developed for Arbonne, and it left a lasting impression on me. If that was not a sign that I would be involved with Arbonne, then nothing is. The following day, I decided that I wanted to become a Consultant and sell products to a few friends and family to try to earn the trip to the Bahamas. And the rest is Arbonne history.
Although the Atlantis trip was an alluring incentive, having heard so much about this vacation resort and agreeing with my husband that this would be the perfect way to go, it was my enthusiasm for the products and the opportunity that set my Arbonne business in motion. First and foremost, I wanted the discount. But for the time being I set my sights on the trip.
In order to earn the trip, my upline, NVP Gina Ballew, advised me to schedule six classes over the next 30 days. Little did she know I had already organized a Presentations well before I even had my Arbonne Consultant I.D number. Even though I had no idea what I was doing, I jumped right into action feet first. Despite my fear of public speaking, I built up enough confidence to hold my first full presentation by my fourth party. My sister, Elizabeth Miller, hosted the class during an ice storm and I was graced by the attendance of family and friends. If they had taken the time and effort to brave the weather, then I could not possibly let my fear of speaking stop me from giving the best Presentation I could. I am so glad their support and encouragement forced me to face my fears and leave my fears behind. Otherwise, I would not be where I am today.
I built my business simply by offering everyone the opportunity to get these awesome products at a discount, because that is what attracted me to this company in the first place. As my team began to grow, I started finding Aces in my Arbonne deck. They were following my lead by offering everyone the discount too. Consultants were beginning to see the amazing potential in the business opportunity by witnessing my quick promotion path to Area Manager in four short months, then two months later seeing me achieve first step qualification for Region even as I earned the trip for two to Atlantis. It is amazing how easily success breeds success.
I had absolutely no intention of having a career in network marketing with a skin care company. But when there’s a challenge set before me, I will do whatever it takes to accomplish my goal out of sheer determination. Having been a school teacher for eight years before getting married and taking a part-time job at my husband’s dental office and then quitting that to raise my two beautiful daughters, Katherine and Caroline, I was happy that I had the opportunity to stay home with the girls. But something was lacking. I missed the challenges of a career along with its financial benefits. When Arbonne came along, it was a perfect opportunity to make some “fun money” and get together with “adults” in the evenings. I was so caught up in the fun that I did not even realize the success my business was garnering. I only wish I had found Arbonne years ago because I cannot imagine doing anything else. The rewards are bountiful, like discovering my untapped potential or receiving the satisfaction of helping other people find their dreams to meeting incredible women and men who have become my lifelong friends and business partners.
I can honestly say that the best part about Arbonne is seeing my team reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. I want to recognize my Area Managers and Area Managers-in-qualification, Shelly Anderson, Keri Johnson, Cheryl DeLay and Julie Venables: You are the most dedicated and inspiring women I know. I has been a pleasure working with each of you. In addition, I would like to thank my District Managers and District Managers-in-qualification, my first Ace, Sally Cook, Anna Cowan, Tawnya Carro, Kristen Castiglione, Cassie Nash, Sherry Horton, Lisa Naylor, Angie Wilson, Melissa Parry, Lauvenia Barry, Bill DeLay, Maria Sinclair, Amy Beauchamp, Diana Walter and Hayley. Last but not least, I want to thank all of my Consultants and Clients. Our Region would not be where it is today without all of you!
Without effective leadership, there can be no direction. All the credit goes to a phenomenal upline, ERVP Beth Sparks, ERVP Ann Wandishin, NVP Gina Ballew and ENVP Cecilia Stoll. Thank you for being there for me each time I ever needed direction. I only hope to become the inspiration to my team that you have been to me. I want to thank Rita for her phone calls. It is not only an impressive feat but a great motivating factor to get a call from the president of a company the size of Arbonne. Rita, I want you to know that I have not taken my bracelet off since you presented it to me except to go down the “Leap Of Faith” waterslide at Atlantis! To Petter: Thank you for your incredible vision and love. To Stian, Candee, VP Support and everyone at the Home Office: Thank you for handling everything so wonderfully.
Of course, nothing would even be possible without the support of family. I want to thank them all for their love and encouragement. My husband, Jim has stood by me every step of the way, along with my precious children, parents, in-laws, sisters and brothers-in-law. I thank God every day for giving me such a solid foundation and then for setting Arbonne upon it.
