SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“With hard work and perseverance, anyone can succeed.”

I was introduced to Arbonne two years ago when my best friend, NVP Carleeta Nelson called and sent me a huge package of Arbonne “stuff.” Carleeta was urging me to join her in this exciting new business adventure she was doing, and I absolutely did not want to have anything to do with it. I repeatedly told her “no” and “absolutely not.” I was not a salesperson; it just was not me. Just to appease Carleeta, I did sign up as an Independent Consultant, and then I went on with my “perfect life.”

Well, at that point I was 37 years of age, happily married to a wonderful man, Bob, with a beautiful toddler named Chase. I was longing for a larger family though, and desperately trying to get pregnant. I invested a lot of money in an infertility doctor and some expensive hormone injections. Well, those shots worked and I got way more than I bargained for. I became pregnant with triplets. Boy was I scared about my body carrying three babies. My husband freaked out about financially caring for three babies without my nurse’s salary. So, we had a few rough weeks, got used to the idea and then, at our first obstetrics appointment, they discovered that the third baby had died. We had mixed feelings; we were sad for the baby that was gone, but happy that it would be much safer to carry two babies.

So, for six months, I carried two healthy little boys, Cody and Cole. We were so ecstatic to be carrying twin boys and were 100 percent ready for their arrival. Tragically, their arrival day came earlier than we expected. Our twin boys were born weighing less than two pounds each and fit in the palms of our hands. Both boys died shortly after they were brought into the world. I was devastated beyond words.

For nine months, I grieved, until one day, while visiting with Carleeta, she asked me, “When are we going to get the old Patty back?” At that moment, I decided it was time to start living again.

I was in a rut. I was a registered nurse, had worked in the same position for the last eight years and in the same hospital since 1990. There was no room for advancement in my field, and minimal new challenges. I thought about going back to school to become a nurse practitioner, but financially the rewards would be minimal. My life was definitely in a “neutral cycle.” When I looked five years down the road, my life would be unchanged. I had a great life, do not get me wrong. Other people would have loved to be in my shoes. Good job, great husband, adorable son and a beautiful house. Who would not have been happy? I just still felt like something was missing.

So, when Carleeta came to see me in January 2005, and shared her successful life with me, I was envious and decided to join her. I did not want her leaving me behind. I decided to start living again. Arbonne has given me a new zest for life, a new purpose and a new goal to fulfill. In the last few months, I have invested all of my free hours in Arbonne. No more reality TV shows. No more negative attitudes. My eyes were open. I dared to dream for more. I have big dreams and big goals again, just like when I was a young girl. It is so much fun to dream, dream big and reach for the stars. The sky is the limit with this business. All it takes is a positive attitude, smiling face, caring heart, hard work and perseverance. In this business, anyone can succeed if you want it bad enough. The last few months have been a rollercoaster ride for me. I am just hanging on by the seat of my pants, getting the ride of my life.

To my husband, Bob: Thank you for being my Arbonne “partner” for life. I could never have done it without your support. You are a girl’s dream come true. To Chase: Thank you for entertaining yourself so much these days and being patient with mommy as she grows her business. I promise you will reap the rewards really soon. Now, I can easily send you to the finest schools, and better yet, mommy will soon be free to take you to, and pick you up from, school every day, and be a bigger part of your life.

To my twins, Cody and Cole: Because of you, our Region’s motto is Inspired by Angels.

To Phillipe, Carleeta, Lyndsey and Blake: Thank you for opening my eyes!

To my wonderful team of girls: Thank you, Arbonne Tucson and Arbonne Las Vegas rock! We are not going to stop until Arbonne is a household name. We still have a lot of work to do. Remember, the sky is the limit. Let’s all rise to the top together.
