SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“Just keep doing it.”

I was 40 years old when I finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up. When I was a little girl, I just wanted to be a wife and a mother. I envisioned the white picket fence around my beautiful home, carefree days and luxurious vacations.

Eventually, I caught on that I was supposed to do something to earn money, and in our family, that meant going to college. I hated the thought of going to school for another four years. Still a dreamer, I considered becoming a writer or a poet, taking photography classes or being an artist. I soon realized there was incredible competition in these fields. I settled for going to a community college and getting an associate degree in office management so I would be qualified to work in an office ... somewhere. Everyone seemed pleased with my practical decision and relieved I was finally becoming realistic.

As my life continued, along came marriage, children and a variety of office jobs. The jobs never paid much, but that was okay because I had a husband to depend on. I never stayed at any job for long because I was always searching for something exciting. I longed for a job where I could use my creative ideas and artistic talent. As I grew older, I envisioned a place where I could make good money and still have control of my life. I dreamed of a job where I could be available to my children and have unlimited vacation time. As I grew wiser, it became very important to me to teach my children the value of financial independence.

The year I turned 40, I found the perfect job for me — Arbonne! Arbonne offered me everything I ever wanted in a job! I could put my good ideas and creative talent to work, work from home, set my own hours, decide my own lunch hours and take vacations whenever I wanted to! Better yet, I earned my vacations through Arbonne! And, my children got to see how my hard work paid off. Best of all, I had a gift I could share with anyone who felt trapped in their job, wanted to be more available to their family or simply wanted to spend more of their life doing what they loved doing. Sharing the opportunity with other people gave me a sense of fulfillment I had never felt before. I actually get goose bumps when I share the opportunity with people and see the excitement of renewed hope building in their eyes!

I named my Region, Glenda’s Garden, because it does not matter how old you get — you always continue to grow. As you grow in your belief, confidence and success, others become attracted to your aura and want what you have. You teach them how to plant seeds of their own and nurture their dreams. Then, before our eyes, a garden starts to grow around us!

I want to thank my biggest supporter and fan, my husband, Brad. Brad is the one who sacrificed the most. He was the one who suggested I quit my full-time “safe” job and pursue an Arbonne career. I know it killed him during the first six months, watching our savings account dwindle while I built my business. He never doubted me or my business, though. Sometimes, he believed in me more than I believed in myself. I worked harder than ever so I would not let him down. (There was a little underlying agreement we made that if I did not make it with Arbonne in one year, I would have to get a real job again!)

I want to thank my first business partner, Cathy Greeneberg. I met Cathy early on in my career, and together we worked side by side to pioneer this Region. I am so blessed and thankful for her determination, optimism and incredible speaking skills! I owe our friendship to Arbonne — I could not have asked for a better business partner or friend.

To ENVP Cecilia Stoll: I love you! You rank right up there with President Rita Davenport! You open your heart and share yourself — your failures and successes — with everyone so unselfishly. Your generous heart has helped so many of us achieve our dreams. You were awesome at NTC Las Vegas 2005! Because of you, I make a point to do a random act of kindness every day.

I want to thank my team! I knew there had to be people out there who desired more out of life like I did. You all are determined and confident, and you will all be driving your white Mercedes-Benzes soon! I am so thankful to have you all in my life.

To my children, Morgan, Sydney, Abbey and Sam: You have given so much of your patience and support to my business! From day one, I told you we would be getting a white Mercedes-Benz, and you never doubted me. Every time I came home from a Presentation, at least one of you would ask how the event went, and when I was going to get the Mercedes-Benz.

I want to thank my upline, RVP Pam Authur, NVP Karen Steele and NVP Jeanne Sterner. These ladies are the roots of my success. They give unselfishly to everyone who is determined to make their goals real.

For anyone who is considering starting a business with Arbonne — all you need is determination, motivation and an I’m-going-to-make-this-work-no-matter-what attitude, and you can do it! Do not worry about the little fears, the little “what ifs” and doubts you may have. These worries are temporary and will quickly disappear as you build your fortitude and self-esteem, and as you watch your business grow!

I used to dread Sunday nights (because Monday followed) but lived for Fridays (because two days of freedom followed). Now every day is like the weekend! I finally have a job that allows me to work around my family. I can take long lunches if I want to and I do not have to ask someone’s permission to take a vacation. For the first time in my life, I feel proud of what I do for a living. I am living in my dream world. I love Arbonne!
