“Have the faith to know this will work and the perseverance to make it happen.”
If you had asked me a few years ago what I would be doing with my life when I was 21-years-old, running my own successful business probably would not have been my answer. While this was always a dream of mine, in some sense, I never imagined that it would actually happen this quickly, nor this soon in my life.
My roommate, ENVP Tiffany Obar, said to me one night in March of 2005, “Hey, Megan, do you want to go to dinner with me and Jamie?” And, of course, I thought, “Well, yeah!” What she had failed to mention was that I would be hearing an Arbonne Presentation in the process of having dinner with AM Jamie Overland and ENVP Jacque Groenewold. I laugh now because I am sure glad that she invited me to dinner that night to hear about the incredible opportunity of pursuing an Arbonne home-based business!
I started my Arbonne business in March of 2005. At the time, I was a full-time college student with a full-time job and a part-time ministry. While I am still finishing my college career, it is incredible to think that I have the potential time and financial freedom to pursue all my options in life! I am so blessed to be where I am today. I cannot say that I did not hit some roadblocks along my journey in this business, but those obstacles have created greater character and strength within me. I am so thankful for that.
When I first started my business, I saw my age as an obstacle. I did not really know if people would take me seriously, or believe in what I had to say, because most of the people I talked to were not only older, but had much more life experience than I did. I had to realize that age is just a number. If you really believe in what you are doing, then you will be able to convey your message competently to others. It is so fulfilling to be able to help other people have the means to do what they have always wanted to do and, as a result, live a fuller life. I believe Arbonne is an opportunity that we rarely get in life, so I am excited to share it with others and it shows. Slowly, I began to realize that, “Yes, this is my business, but this is not about me.”
As I look back over the past year, I think of how much God has blessed me. I am also so thankful that I did not say “no” to this opportunity. Where I am now is better than I ever could have imagined! In fact, if you had asked me if I ever thought I would be able to have the potential to drive a white Mercedes-Benz and work around my own schedule, I probably would have said either “that is never going to happen,” or “it will happen when I am 80.” I am blessed to be able to spend the rest of my life pursuing my ministry and following my heart.
