“There is no secret. Commit to your business, take responsibility for your success and most of all believe in yourself.”
I am convinced that God answers the desires of our heart. When we pray, He opens doors and presents opportunities; we have to walk through those doors with faith. In June of 1998 I began reading a book called Choices by Mary Farrar. As a hair stylist working in a salon, I felt like a rat on a wheel with no way out. My true desire was to work from home and be available for my children. This book was an encouragement to me to begin praying about other alternatives to replace my income so that I could be home. Little did I know that not only would I replace my income, but I would also achieve the financial freedom that we only dreamed of until now.
The Arbonne opportunity came to me on the last day of August 1998. Looking back over the last five years, it's amazing to see how much one choice can change the course of your life. My husband Kevin knew my prayers and saw the Arbonne opportunity while on a business trip. Even though he was very excited, it took a while for me to realize the true possibilities Arbonne had to offer. I fell in love with the products but I had a negative view of network marketing.
After a month of dodging follow-up phone calls from ERVP Tina Prow, Kevin encouraged me to call as a courtesy to thank Tina for the samples and information. I finally did call, with the intention of ordering products. During our conversation, I found out that she was a retired hair stylist, driving the company Mercedes and staying at home with her children. She posed questions that opened my eyes to this opportunity such as, “If you keep doing what you're doing right now, where will you be in five years?” It occurred to me that if I wasn't willing to step out of my comfort zone and make some changes how could I expect my circumstances to change?
I made the decision to pursue Arbonne as a career. Like most people, I was unable to lose my current income and knew I would have to juggle two careers at one time for a while. With anything there are always challenges and obstacles along the way. I knew that God had put this in my life, therefore, I never questioned whether this was the opportunity that I had been praying for. When you know God's will for you then you press forward no matter what the difficulties may be. This doesn't mean it will be easy but isn't anything really worth having worth working for? Cancelled classes will happen and people will quit but you have to keep your eye on your long-term goal.
Tina came to Dallas to help me launch my business. I could not believe that I was in my car driving to a meeting to start a business with someone I had only talked to on the phone. This was so uncharacteristic of me but seeing her in action reinforced the belief that this business was right for me. I knew nothing about network marketing and quickly realized having my upline so far away in Nashville required me to become the leader of my team and initiate meetings. Those first few months were a blur; it must have been my excitement that convinced others to join me in this business.
What I have found is that there are no secrets. It's about committing yourself, taking responsibility for your success and most of all believing in yourself. You have to believe that you can do it and that you will do it. A belief in yourself unconsciously conveys to your team that they can believe in themselves. Set your goal, attend everything, listen to your upline, read personal growth books, listen to audiotapes and finally, surround yourself with others who share your goal. This business is truly a gift. It's not only about dreaming big and achieving goals, but also about helping others do the same. I am living proof that you never know who might do this business with you.
Tina, I cannot put into words how much your friendship means to me. Thank you for taking a chance on me and for believing in me before I believed in myself. Your encouragement and love has been there from day one and your character was magnified through your unselfish support these last few months. You are truly the most giving person I know and I am so proud that you are one of my best friends. As Kevin often said, “The cream will always rise to the top.” You are the “cream of the crop!” I love you.
To RVP Christie Feighan and your awesome Region and soon-to-be Nation. We are quite a pair. I never knew that I had a twin personality in the world. What an incredible leader you are. Thank you for your friendship and your devotion to your team.

VP Support, thank you for taking care of the details that are necessary to keep us going ... you are very much appreciated.
Mom, I will never forget the support you have shown especially the last two months. Of course you were always there when I needed you. Giddie (Julie), I am so blessed to have a sister who is also my best friend. You keep my business running smoothly. One of the blessings that has come from this business is working with you each day. I love both of you so much!
Kevin, I will not ever be able to show you how much your support means to me. I am so blessed to have a husband who shares in my dreams and encourages me to achieve them. You found Arbonne for me and saw the vision before I knew that it existed. Through the ups and downs of growing my business you never doubted for a moment that I could do this. Jenna and Judson, you are my reasons Why I started this business. The time that I am available for you is irreplaceable. The fun that we have had as a family while on Arbonne trips is an experience that I know you will always remember. Always set your goals high and never give up on your dreams. I love you much.
Arbonne is an opportunity that is available for everyone. All you have to do is make the choice, have a goal bigger than you are and know that this is a journey! I love what Joyce Meyer's says: “The more you know God's word, the more you understand that He will not lead you astray or direct you into anything that is bad for you. Even things that may seem uncomfortable in the beginning will ultimately turn into glorious blessings for your life if you just follow His lead.”
