Before Arbonne, I had almost forgotten my dreams. Looking back, I now see everything in my life was leading me to this opportunity. As a lawyer, I strove to help others and make a difference in their lives. Unfortunately, I was disillusioned by the bureaucracy and my inability to affect real change. The compassion and grace I attempted to bring to my clients was soon trampled down by my large case load and the contentious attorneys with whom I worked.
When it was time to start a family, I happily left my law practice and joined my husband working from home in our pet care business. Because we had both grown up with working parents, we realized the most precious commodity we could give our children was our time. I enjoyed being a “stay-at-home mother” with my 3-year-old and 1-year-old sons, but our paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle began to wear on me. I had hopes of giving my children even more opportunities than I had, but without two incomes, I did not know how this was going to be possible.
Then a visit from my sister changed my life! She introduced me to Arbonne’s incredible anti-aging skin care line and I immediately loved it. Then, when she invited me to join her in this endeavor, I was shocked! Did she not see how busy I was with two babies 19-months a part, working from home 20-hours a week, leading a mom’s group, volunteering here, there and everywhere? With that, she had my complete attention and I had to learn more. Could this be the answer? So, as a lawyer would, I began researching Arbonne thoroughly. I was delighted to find that it was not too good to be true — I really could work for myself and have the potential to earn a great residual income. In only five months, I became an RVP and replaced my income as an attorney!
Through the journey, I have learned some of the most important lessons of my life. The first has been learning that I can achieve my dreams by helping others achieve theirs. My success has been more about how I have walked the journey than how hard I have worked along the way.
Learning to remain teachable has been another lesson. My upline had an easy, duplicatable and proven system for success, which I just needed to plug into. I learned not to reinvent the wheel. The support network of conference calls and trainings has been invaluable. I am so grateful I never had to be alone in this endeavor. I have also learned to create momentum by doing something for my business every day, whether it was calling a person on my chicken list, educating myself through Arbonne’s remarkable online training or devouring the Eye on Arbonne success stories of others.
Staying focused has been instrumental, as well. I envision big goals for myself and write them down even when I have no idea how they will become realities! Then, I speak these goals to myself as if they are already a reality. I pray as if my success is all up to God, but work as if it is all up to me. I strive to work every day as if it was the last day of the month, and I do not give up until the last minute of the last day of the month. I believe I will have success even when my goals defy logic. I stay detached from the outcome when presenting this opportunity. Instead of focusing on my goals, I focus on loving others and seeing if this opportunity could be a blessing to them.
As a result, I have been amazingly blessed. I have incredible men and women on my team who I have had the marvelous good fortune of knowing. I want to thank them for bringing so much to my life and inspiring me to come up higher every day. I could not have had success without each and every one of them, from my Managers to my Consultants.
Finally, I want to thank God, from Whom all blessings and love flow. I believe God’s grace and unmerited favor are the true reasons for my success. He has promised and been faithful to do exceedingly and abundantly more than I could ever ask or imagine. I believe it was not what happened to me, but within me, that determined my success.
