If someone gave you this story to help you decide if you want to do Arbonne, it is a real compliment. It means they think you are savvy, smart and someone they want to do business with. They do not give these stories out to just any warm body — it means they believe you have what it takes to potentially create time and financial freedom for yourself and your family. That is wonderful! As you read this and other stories, I suggest you look for the similarities, not the differences, and you will know if this is the right fit for you.
On September 1st, I woke up as a new NVP with Arbonne International. The first thing I did was double-check with Arbonne to make sure I was not dreaming. Then, I made a donation to the Red Cross to help ease the suffering in our Gulf States from Hurricane Katrina. I am so glad to be able to do that now. In my heart I have always wanted to give generously, however, before Arbonne came into my life, it would have been out of the question for my family and I to give much at all.
I began my Arbonne journey in September 2002. I was a stay-at-home mom with three children: Sarah, in high school; Spencer, in preschool and Steven in kindergarten. I was faced with the necessity of going back to work, and was not interested in going back into the film industry where I had worked for many years as a writer and production coordinator.
I knew one of the preschool moms, ERVP Sally Hallada, had a home-based skin care business, and I gave her a call. While our kids played together, she told me about her business. She was able to work about 15 hours a week and had the potential to make as much as she would in a full-time job. Well, that sounded good to me. I found it ironic that skin care was what I had been led to. My skin has always been troubled and at 41, I still had acne and was getting deep wrinkles as well. I asked Sally a lot of questions, and did some serious praying and meditating before I finally decided to jump in. When I decided to go for it, there was no stopping me! I worked at a steady pace, doing about six Presentations a month, and signed up at least one Consultant every month. I will say that I was relentless about making sure I did my six Presentations a month. Make those small decisions one day at a time; and they will add up to big results.
I rarely canceled a Presentation without replacing it with something else. If I had Arbonne scheduled on my calendar, I did something Arbonne in that time. By keeping that kind of steady pace, I reached DM within six weeks, AM in six months and RVP (whenyou earn the Mercedes-Benz) in 13 months. I was able to put my family first, most of the time, and still make strong an steady progress.
It has been three years to the day since I made the decision to begin. Just think for a minute — where will you be in three years? Will you be doing the same thing, expecting different results? Will you be telling your children, “We cannot afford that,” while counting the groceries in the cart? Or will you be living elegantly, able to help those in need whenever you wish? Who will you be spending your time with?
I have found out two profound truths by being in this company: First, one of the best feelings you will have is when you get to be the unexpected angel in someone else’s life. Second, by joining Arbonne, you will develop relationships that are unique and priceless.
The friendships are what I value the most in Arbonne, and I want to publicly thank the friends who are also my business partners.
To RVPs Dena Bogrow and Angela Muhl: You were both there at my very first Presentation, and I am forever grateful to you that you decided to do Arbonne with me. I love strategizing and laughing with you!
To RVP Sandra Sena and EAM Paola Turner: You are going to be VPs by the time this is published! You opened up the East Coast for our team, and I am forever personally indebted to your generosity and valued friendship.
To AMs, Debrau Devlin, Stephanie Medeiros, Jeanne Dexheimer, Cyndi Youse, Eric Muhl and Suzanne Simmons: Thank you for your tireless leadership and persistence. You inspire me. To the many DMs and DMs-in-qualification, who are the spine of this business: Thank you for trusting us and taking those first steps to make your dreams come true.
To the Consultants who purchase products at a discount, and all the wonderful Clients in my Nation: Thanks for looking great so that everyone is asking you what you are using on your skin!
Thank you to my wonderful husband, Craig, who was not wild about the idea of me doing Arbonne — he is in sales, and knew that I could not sell anything to anyone! Lucky for both of us,
Arbonne is more like show and tell. I love that you watched the boys for me in spite of your feelings, and it means the world when you tell me you are proud of me. You have my heart. To Sarah, Steven and Spencer: I love you, and am so grateful I get to be there for you as you grow. I get to work in your classrooms and walk you to school. Seeing your smiles and getting your hugs when I pick you up from school are the best moments in my life.
Thank you Arbonne for letting me be there for all of those tiny moments in my children’s lives!
To mom and dad: You taught me I could do anything I put my mind to. That life lesson has made it possible for all the rest to come true.
To my gorgeous upline, ENVPs Donna Weiser and Sandra Tillinghast: Your elegant lives inspired me long before I got to know you as fun girlfriends! Thanks so much for both ends of the spectrum. Thanks to the Home Office staff and all of the support you give us. Our leadership in Chairman and CEO Bob Henry, President Rita Davenport and Executive Vice President Stian Mørck is unparalleled.
Thanks also to the crosslines who have become friends over these three years; in particular, to ERVP Liz Barlak, who has inspired so many of us to keep the faith and taught us we are not in a race. To my friend and sponsor, ERVP Sally Hallada: Not only did you share the gift of Arbonne with me, you are a fabulous friend and frequent roommate on trips, and I am so grateful we get to be pals for a lifetime. Finally, thanks to Bill and Bob: Their vision of a life filled with service to others and an attitude of gratitude has literally saved my life, and the lives of so many whom I love.
If I could pick a single word that exemplifies what I hold dear in Arbonne, it would be “clarity.” Arbonne encompasses clarity of skin, clarity of thought and clarity of vision. It is our vision that takes us past the “nos” and into the future we deserve. I created a roadmap of vision when I began and by doing so, made my goal to be an NVP. I encourage you to trust the person who has handed you this opportunity with Arbonne. I know that inside you is a beautiful image of who you can be and who you can help along the way. It is that small, still voice that is in each of us that prompts us to be optimistic, to take the chance; it is that part of us that yearns for freedom and for a life that matters.
This is what I have discovered: If you have the courage to change, great things truly will come to pass for you and countless others.
