“Be persistent and focus your thoughts on what you want.”

In April of 2005, I became an RVP and just one year later, I am an NVP. The truth is in my mind, body and spirit, I am really an ENVP with four Nations wide. The numbers just have not shown up yet! Last night, President Rita Davenport and I spoke as she congratulated me on my success. I must say that it was Rita’s words that clicked for me back in Utah in September of 2003. As she spoke about how negative self-talk can influence how we see ourselves, I realized what I needed to change in order for my circumstances to change. What a difference it has made; I thank Rita for saying it, Phoebe for flying me there to the training to hear it, and myself for listening and putting it into action!

I had a really big need for this business, although I did not want to get involved with a skin care company. My husband, Archie, is a teacher and I was a stay-at-home mother of our 2-and-a-half-year-old son, Blaze. We needed more income, but I was not willing to work outside the home if it meant putting him into daycare. I received an article in the mail about home-based businesses. It had a great picture of ENVP Phoebe James and ENVP Deanna Wilkinson with their husbands, and they were sitting on their white Mercedes-Benzes. The article talked about how they stayed at home with their children, worked the business part time, and made potentially substantial incomes. I said to myself, “That is what I need, but not with this company.” I have skin challenges and did not have much success with other products, so I threw the article away. For two more weeks, I researched options, but kept thinking about the ladies on the white Mercedes-Benzes. Finally, I dug the article out of the recycling bin and made the call that changed my life!

I launched my Arbonne business in August of 2003 and never looked back. When I began, so many people were supportive and positive, but there were some who were not and did not understand why I would want to sell skin care. They did not see what I saw, so I just focused on my vision and ignored what others did not see or understand. Remember that when someone is negative about your decision to do this business. Ask yourself, how different are their lives now from five years ago and are they doing anything about it? How different will your life be in five years? I always knew where this business was going for me and I never let someone take the vision away from me. Think about this for everyone who tells you, “No.” Just about everyone on my team was initially a “No” when I offered them this business. A “No” now could very well mean, “Yes,” in the future, so embrace the “Nos” as your future “Yes’!” If you are a new Consultant, District Manager, Area Manager or someone thinking about doing this business, just know this business works as long as you do. If you quit, it will not work. Hundreds of people are achieving VP success because the system works and the compensation plan is fair and achievable. You make some sacrifices, but they are temporary and well worth it. I cannot think of a better business you can work part time, weave through and around your life, have no employees, minimal overhead and still make a potentially incredible residual income, with no glass ceiling! I think this opportunity is the eighth wonder of the world. How many people do you know who can possibly make money when they are not working? For many, taking a vacation is a huge source of stress because if they are not working, they are not making any money. I know this business is not for everyone, but I do not understand why everyone does not do it. I have to pinch myself sometimes when I am home with the kids, doing what we want when we want, working my Arbonne business part time and making an income that at one time I thought would be impossible for me. The plus is that I get to help others do the same! That is the beauty of the business: You can help others achieve what they want and show them the way. Their success is your success. The only difference between a new Consultant and an NVP is that the NVP has talked to more people and heard more “nos.” When people say, “No,” my heart aches for them. We are only given opportunities like these maybe once or twice in a lifetime!

People often ask me what I do, what I say, how I say it and about building the Arbonne business. There really is no magic word or sentence; just the act of doing the business. You must take action and do what needs to be done. Remind yourself of the toys that are called “action” heroes, not “wait and see” heroes, “I will do it tomorrow” heroes, or “I am too tired” heroes. Action in the business will get you results. Treat your business as if it is a million dollar business, because it has that potential.

Was I prepared for any of this? No, and you do not have to be fully prepared. If you wait until you are fully prepared, you will never do it. If you are thinking about doing this business, then just do it. The worst that can happen is you will have the ability to order your products at the discount. Then, ask yourself what is the best thing that can happen? Many of us focus on what we do not have and continue to get the same thing. Just focus on what you want and you will get just that. Look at the successful people in this business, pick their brains and do what they did! You will have to walk through some fears, work on negative belief systems and get out of your comfort zone, but that is what successful people do. Every single person has some kind of fear, negative belief and a comfort zone that keeps them safe. The journey of getting through all these obstacles will get you to your destination!

Now, my life is so much better and different than it was just three years ago. I thought Arbonne would give me a great potential income and it has, but it has given me much more, too! I have met and become great friends with so many incredible people. The personal development is exceptional and flows into all areas of my life. I also love that I now get to help others do the same. I want that for each and every one of my team members. I see many white Mercedes-Benzes on my team and we are exploding!

Success is due to the work of a team. I consider my first two Arbonne team members to be my husband, Archie, and my son, Blaze. Archie and Blaze, thank you for taking over on the evenings and afternoons when I was out making this dream come true. I could not have done it without your support. We all made sacrifices for this success. When our second son, Zane, was born on July 13, 2004, your responsibilities increased, but you held the fort down even while I was away building the business.

Eventually, I assembled a fantastic group of men and women. To my incredible Arbonne team, and many of you have been with me since the beginning of my business: Thank you for all your support and commitment. I love to see the growth in all of you! We have had many late night calls and e-mails back and forth through all the ups and downs of this business. It was every single one of you who made us a Nation and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

To my sister, RVP Sharon Rahochik: Thanks for signing that Consultant application agreement form and listening when I said you were going to do this business with me (you can only do that with your sister). It has been quite a journey, both personally and professionally. I just love working with you. Your leadership is a true contribution to the entire Nation and we are blessed to have your wisdom and sense of humor. I know your team will be a Nation very soon. To my sister, Sandy: I cannot wait for the three of us to be driving our own, white Mercedes-Benzes. You will do it!

To the first RVP I promoted, Angie Minnick: What an inspiration you have been. I am blessed with our friendship and incredible zeal for life and what it has to offer. Your example has been a great help to many on our team and I think I can speak for everyone when I say you are an inspiration. I appreciate your commitment to building a team with integrity. You, too, will be an NVP in the near future!

To Area Managers, Kathy Reeder, Brennan Ecker, Kelly Redmond, Zorina Smith, Cecelia Bussey, Jessie Kretzer, Arlene Besecker, Betsy Reed and Penny Morris: I see the Mercedes-Benzes right around the corner and an explosion of NVPs!

To all the District Managers and new Consultants just joining our Nation: Know you are NVPs in the making and this is just the beginning of great things yet to come. Your vivid vision and commitment will get you there.

To all my Clients and Consultants, who purchase product at discount: Thank you for your continued support and sharing your love of Arbonne with everyone. A special thanks to my cousin, Jackie, for all her support in Virginia. You all are a real part of this journey and it is never too late to jump in on this golden opportunity.

To ENVP Phoebe James: Thank you for all your long distance support, training and friendship! Even from all the way out there in Utah, I felt supported here in Fairfield, Pennsylvania. I could not ask for a better mentor and I know you were sent to me. I see even greater things happening for you in your continued journey.

To Mark Fournier: Thanks for your support and showing me what is great!

Arbonne is full of dedicated and passionate people. To the VP Support team: Thank you for your exceptional service and for making my experience that much sweeter. To all our crossline Consultants and VPs: Thank you for sharing your trainings, meetings and vision. We all are on the same team!

I want to thank God for all the blessings and abundance in my life. I have been given a golden opportunity to make a difference in other people’s lives.
