Certified Arbonne Clean | NOT ALLOWED List | Arbonne Product Manufacturing
Arbonne is healthy living, inside and out. From the beginning, Arbonne has developed pure products with botanically based ingredients in scientifically tested formulas. We combine the best of science and nature to produce formulas that deliver incredible results.
Being Certified Arbonne Clean™ begins with the ingredients that we use, taking the best from nature, and embracing the idea that healthy living starts from the inside out — what we choose to include in a product is just as important as what we choose to put on our skin or in our bodies. We choose carefully, so you can feel safe in the knowledge that we’ve done the research.
The advantage of Arbonne products is in our promise to deliver a holistic approach to healthy living, inside and out, with premium formulas for better skincare results and plant-powered nutrition.
Arbonne products are formulated according to our pure, safe, beneficial™ philosophy. Here’s what we mean:
We develop each product with meaningful ingredients from nature, chosen for their effectiveness and safety. We continually raise our standards to find the perfect balance between what is pure and what is efficacious.
All of our products are safe and nontoxic. We’re vigilant about the newest research regarding chemicals to ensure we’re being mindful and cautious from formulation and beyond. We proactively search for pure, clean botanical ingredients.
Our core commitment is to provide effective products that deliver a true benefit. Products everyone should have and will desire. As trailblazers, we must educate, empower and inspire people to make better choices for the beauty, health and wellness of their families and friends.
Our NOT ALLOWED List™ includes more than 2,000 ingredients — nearly 1,400 from the European Union, plus several hundred more — that we won’t use in any of our formulas across our categories including skincare, personal care, hair care, nutrition, and makeup.
Healthy living inside and out includes what we choose to include in a formula — and what we don't. This list directly reflects Arbonne’s rigorous screening of ingredients, our research, and enhanced safety requirements that ultimately result in safer ingredient choices and effective products in line with our pure, safe, beneficial™ philosophy and further defines what it means to be Certified Arbonne Clean™. We go above and beyond because we care.
We promise to always:
Our ingredient policy guides our mission to deliver products with safe ingredients, for effective results you will want to share with your loved ones and the world.

Arbonne products are formulated vegan and submitted for certification.
The Gluten Free Certification Organization (gfco.org) requires full gluten-free compliance and onsite inspections of Arbonne manufacturing facilities and every one of our contract manufacturers’ facilities. The implications for someone eating gluten can range from digestive issues to more serious health conditions. For individuals with gluten intolerance or celiac disease, a gluten-free diet is essential. Arbonne currently is certified gluten free on over 50 products and is continually submitting more for certification.
The Banned Substances Control Group (bscg.org) ensures products are free of drug contamination that could cause an athlete to test positive on a drug test or lead to health concerns. Arbonne is a certified drug free client with each Arbonne PhytoSport product continually verified and listed in the BSCG database.
Informed-Sport (www.informed-sport.com) certification assures athletes that products have been regularly tested for substances considered prohibited in sport and that they’ve been manufactured to high quality standards. Each manufacturing facility Arbonne utilizes is audited annually by the OU, to ensure compliance to OU standards is maintained. Arbonne has letters of certification for over 75% of Nutrition products and is continually submitting more for certification.
The Non-GMO Project (nongmoproject.org) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization offering a third-party non-GMO verification program to the standard consumers expect. A growing number of Arbonne Nutrition products are verified by the Non-GMO Project.
Arbonne has been one of the leaders in the pure products movement since 1980. Our internal list of prohibited ingredients has evolved over time, based on our safety evaluation of ingredients using sound scientific principles. Arbonne was scrutinizing ingredients and establishing stricter guidelines before others in the industry. Arbonne’s commitment to safe, clean products is stronger than ever and we applaud all brands that support this movement and join our mission.
Arbonne goes way beyond the nearly 1,400 ingredients restricted for use by the European Union and the several hundred by the US FDA. Adhering to the strict Arbonne Ingredient Policy, we maintain a list of over 2,000 ingredients that are NOT ALLOWED in Arbonne products. Our NOT ALLOWED List™ is defined by 4 clear attributes:
Ingredients that conflict with our pure standards of gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, and no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners are NOT ALLOWED. Arbonne will never test on animals.
Ingredients that have high levels of irritation or toxicity, a high allergen content, those that are known hormone disrupters, cancer causing, or have negative consumer press are NOT ALLOWED.
Ingredients that are being considered by our existing countries as possibly banned in the future are NOT ALLOWED.
Ingredients that are harmful to the environment and have a negative impact on communities are NOT ALLOWED.
Here are the Top 20 ingredients that Arbonne has evaluated and defined as NOT ALLOWED according to the 4 attributes. For a complete list, please visit our NOT ALLOWED List™ page.
Our NOT ALLOWED List™ has evolved over time as new research is made available in the industry and scientific community. At Arbonne, we are vigilant in sourcing ingredients according to our strict standards of safety and quality. However, trace levels of a chemical may inadvertently be introduced into a product due to the complex nature of supply chain and manufacturing processes.
As a global company, Arbonne fully complies with the regulations of each country that our products are distributed in. As determined by each country’s regulatory bodies, specific claims that can be made in country may vary, but our strict standards do not.
